Post-Jam Update [v1.0.0]

Thank you to everyone who has played Supermarket Mayhem since its initial release! The first 32bit Jam version was missing some features I had intended to include but were cut for time and contained some unaddressed issues and glitches. Nevertheless, I hope you've all enjoyed playing the game!

Major Additions:

  • Settings Menu:
    • With the newly added settings menu, you will be able to:
      • Toggle Fullscreen Mode
      • Toggle Post-Processing Effects
      • Adjust Music Volume
      • Adjust SFX Volume
      • Adjust UI Sound Volume
    • Regarding Fullscreen:
      • The size of the window can be adjusted with the mouse cursor when not in fullscreen.
      • In some instances, the game will not register the input for "ACCEPT" when transitioning between fullscreen modes or immediately after. If this occurs, simply press the button again and it should register the second time.
  • Challenges Overhaul:
    • New level challenges have been introduced to Supermarket Mayhem, in addition to the challenges already present in the 32bit Jam release.
  • New Level: Gibbons Grocery

Bug Fixes and Changes:

  • Fixed the "running bug," where the player would be unable to run even when the key was held
  • Fixed an issue where the gameplay music would persist after quitting to the main menu through the pause menu
  • Changed the color of the level's "score zone" to green and added a floating cart sprite for better visibility
  • Added a new line of text to the "Challenge Complete" popup describing which challenge was completed
  • Added new models and textures for the bonus items found in each level's secret area
  • Added a message that plays during the level intro cutscene that displays the "score to beat"
  • Revised assigning the "score to beat" to better reflect player performance based on their high score for the current level
  • Removed the "32bit Spring Cleaning" splash screen from this release
  • Added the ability to skip splash screens by pressing [SPACE] or [ENTER]
  • Addressed potential memory leak issues and orphan nodes that accumulate with extended playtime

Future Plans:

Supermarket Mayhem is still in on-going development with new features slated for future updates, including the ability to save data, computer-controlled opponents, and an unlock system for new content tied to level challenges. Both the Pre-Jam and 32bit Jam versions of the game will remain available for download, while this Post-Jam version will be replaced as updates are released. Currently, there is no set schedule for when future updates will be ready.

In the meantime, there are many new and exciting projects set to release over the coming months, so stay tuned!
